Álamos Golf Course lying to the north of Portimão it is laid out as a neighbour to another Algarve Golf Course, Morgado.
The setting is a large 980 hectare estate through undulating small valleys. The immediate main characteristic factor is its large greens which place demand on good putting skills as they are often raised above the fairway approach and involve several levels. Also, the accuracy of the player's shot will be questioned by deep aggressive bunkers. With a varied landscape, the course runs next to two large lakes, through wide valleys and has superb views of the Monchique mountain range to the north of the project.

Directions:
Take the road to the north from Portimão in the direction of Monchique and Silves and under the new A22 Motorway. From the access roundabout of the A22 follow the signs to Monchique and Silves. After 1.1 kms take the well signposted left turn and drive a further 1.2 kms to the west where you take a right turn into the Morgado Estate. Follow the road to the Club House. (11.8 kilometres in total).

Álamos was chosen for our Saturday Stableford Competition, and did not disappoint the small field of 10 players taking part.
This course seems to have been designed with the surrounding environment in mind, and never fails to offer a quiet, together with nature feel to it. It is a pleasure to take the Society there and also to its sister course Morgado.
The greens were in good condition, and as always, offered chances to the players who had their putting game in good order. Fairways have improved over the last 3 months and placing was not really required.
However with the breeze which seemed to help the players on the back 9, it seriously played tricks on the front 9, lowering the average scores.
